My work is rooted in liberation and education and the belief that we are natural-born storytellers–griots–unafraid of telling the truth about who we've always been, who we are, and who we imagine to be. I'm continuing in the tradition by writing stories that inspire us to live more liberated lives and helping Black women do the same.
WHO IS BRIONA?
I spent years doubting if my writing was good enough, unsure and unfulfilled. From a lifelong dream of writing professionally to navigating the uncertainty of a nomadic life, I yearned to tell impactful global stories. Faced with the challenges of an anti-Black media industry, I scoured the internet for answers, leading me to a pivotal moment: contributing to POPSUGAR and embarking on my writing journey. With each byline, I gained the confidence to send pitches, eventually securing a place among multi-award-winning travel and food journalists, recognized by prestigious organizations and featured in top publications.

WRITING IMPACTFUL BLACK STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Since 2016, I’ve been wielding words and photos to share stories of food, travel, Black culture, and history. My work has been featured in Conde Nast Traveler, BBC Travel, Atlas Obscura, and more. As a digital creator, I’ve combined my love for travel with a poetic flair to create content for brands like Airbnb and The CDC.
